September 14, 2007: GanttView added to VISUALjob for TWS to visualize, analyze and simulate the duration of TWS for z/OS jobs.
Mönchengladbach, Germany – September 14, 2007 – APS|ENTERprise software consulting gmbh has announced additional functionality to be added to the next release of VISUALjob for TWS that will allow users to visualize, analyze and simulate TWS for z/OS batch processes based upon historical runtime data.
Within the VISUALjob for TWS interface users will be able to select one or multiple applications representing a batch process and build a Gantt chart to visualize the runtime activity of this process based on a specified IADATE or calendar date. Operations will be displayed chronologically against a timeline and graphically display actual runtimes against historical average runtimes. This will allow users to identify positive and negative trends in the batch flow, identify problematic areas and allow for proactive optimization of the schedule. As an additional option, the number of jobs running in parallel can be displayed in a histogram.
Combining this functionality with VISUALjob’s forecast feature will also allow users to simulate a batch flow for future dates. The addition of jobs and/or longer or shorter running jobs can be actively incorporated into the simulation to analyze their impact. Simulation based on real statistics will bear more accurate results than previous methods, aid in the creation of realistic service level agreements and provide for the proper allocation of resources.
The backbone for this new feature will be the new VISUALstatman for TWS database which will incrementally import statistics from the TWS TRACKLOG. The import process and maintenance of the VISUALstatman database can be completely automated.
“The ability to perform workload / trend analysis and simulations of TWS job flows, along with the flowcharting, documentation, reporting, forecasting and design capabilities already in the product, will make VISUALjob for TWS the most robust and divers graphical tool for the TWS for z/OS and End To End environment.” said Managing Director of APS|ENTERprise software consulting gmbh, Peter Thiermann.
VISUALjob for TWS GanttView and VISUALstatman for TWS will be implemented as cores features of VISUALjob for TWS and will not require further licensing beyond the VISUALjob base product. As of this article this release of VISUALjob is in BETA testing status and expected to become GA by October 10, 2007.
